Get support from the Independent Public Advocate

If you or someone you know is in danger,  please call 999. If it is not an emergency but you need help from the police,  please call 101.

Victims of a major incident can request support from the Independent Public Advocate (IPA).

The Heaton Park Synagogue attack that took place on 2 October 2025 in Greater Manchester has been declared a major incident for the purposes of the Independent Public Advocate.

Victim Support Organisations

If you are a victim of a crime seeking support, there are many specialist organisations offering information, advice and support.

  • If you are going to court as a victim or witness, you can get advice, information and support from the Citizens Advice Witness Service.
